I have to come to the realization that in this world, things that are in union with polar opposites tend to be more in harmony than things that are not.
For example, blue autumn is seemingly more harmonious than yellow autumn or orange autumn. The reason for this is because yellows and oranges are naturally associated with the color of the leaves within autumn. However, the color blue is on the opposite end of the color spectrum of these colors. Therefore, juxtaposing the word blue with autumn creates a more harmonious feel.
Also, in art, it is more harmonious to pair colors on the opposite ends of the color wheel rather than with colors that are right next to each other.

Oh and I have a question in regards to the elemental opposites.
Is fire the opposite of earth? I see it this way because earth can be considered immobility, a blockage, etc. Fire can be considered movement and mobility that can destroy blockages.
Is air the opposite of water? The wakened state is associated with air, which helps to perceive reality. The more oxygen you intake, the more awake you are. The sleep state is associated with water. (don't really have an easily understandable example for this one) I suppose when you're dreaming, it feels like your conscious is submerged into water, and is when things are seemingly unreal.

In Hermetics fire is opposite of water. Fire qualities are basically radiant, and water's qualities are basically magnetic (inflowing) which is the opposite of radiant.
Air and earth are opposites of each other because they are change-points of the two basic radiant and magnetic flows- that is, air is what happens when something has radiated enough to lose all cohesion, and earth is what happens when something has coalesced so much it just has nowhere else to go.
So the real opposites are fire and water, and the other two are opposites of each other because they are diametrically opposite each other, but are considered "secondary" elements to the first two, according to some of the modern hermeticists.

The association with water and the subconscious come from Jung, and the association of the female with water (yin-cold-magnetic-water-emotion) and the association of male with fire (yang-hot-radiant-fire-action) conscious-outward.
Since in cultural expression the woman has been associated with the subconscious (anima) and emotions, it's easy to see the correlation with water and the subconscious- the immersive holographic experience of becoming unconscious (or being flooded with emotion) is easy to recognize.

would one wonder of harmony at all if not for the disharmony caught by the naked eye, or captured by the ears slight vibrations in mimicry.
ergo, radical art is most harmonious, for upon seeing or hearing it one immediately understands what is harmony.
of course, unless, you are the one being radically artful thinking yourself to be in harmony. that reminds me, american idol begins a new season soon.
rofl... american idol... lol
it is true, that harmony is based on the ability to perceive disharmony.
therefore, you have the harmony of union of opposites in this respect.
that would mean that the perception of harmony is in itself, the union of perceiving harmony with disharmony.
the birth of harmony through disharmony.
or the birth of oneness through fragmentation from the infinite light source, and the creation of darkness in-between each fragment.
