Yes, it is a funny cartoon.

It is important to remember that the thing about the cat is supposed to illustrate that quantum mechanics applies only at the subatomic level. It does not make sense to take the conclusions of quantum mechanics out of context. It should be obvious that a cat can't actually be both dead and alive at the same time except in imagination. It is what you call a "thought experiment".
