Hey all, I came across this monroe method video on youtube, http://youtube.com/watch?v=YFwJG0N8pI0
anyways it says when you are relaxing to try and project you want your head to be pointing torwards magnetic north. Does anyone know if that really matters?

It doesn't matter. When Robert Monroe started projecting he started using a very complicated way, and like anyone else, he continued doing things that worked for him. Since he started doing it in that orientation, he continued doing it that way. After many years, later on in his life, he changed the way he did it, and changed his mind about how things worked for him.
Most of us do not pay attention to this N-S thing and project wherever.
The reason he used the N-S orientation was because of the Van Allen belts, that is the earth's em fields and how they may affect the energy body. This makes perfect sense, and it possibly may have made a difference at some time in the past. The thing is that today EM fields are everywhere, and I don't know how (if any) this can change 'where you go' when you pop out. Maybe you can 'surf a belt', but I don't think it affects separation at all.
For whatever this may be worth, when I separate I usually go east or north. I don't think I have ever gone west except after being bounced from a mirror- I think that the powerlines behind my neighborhood may be culprits. Yet I've heard of people getting 'stuck' in them, which would be the opposite from my experience. Which makes me think that it may be an instinctive thing, not really having anything to do with a real effect.

Ah, that's the method he used in his book Journeys out of the Body. That was his first book.

Did he find a better method later on?

I don't know better, just different. You will find that the more you project the different your experiences become. The methods evolve with the projector.
The method he ended up developing is called phasing, and we have a 'how to' stickied in the forum.
Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=7207 (http://forums.astraldynamics.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=7207)
However, I only recommend phasing to those who tend to be clairvoyant or have lots of experience, or don't get vibrations anymore.
