okay, I'm very new to all of this and I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. from what I understand, when you dream it takes place - essentially you are in an astral body separate from the physical body right?
thus, not that different from an AP except in the case of a dream you are in your own little world, where as the astral is a more social plane.
so how do you make the switch? how can you go from lucid dream to a true AP?
im new to AP but im an oldie to lucid dreams. and my and my friends have tried to have shared lucid dreams in the past before - with no sucess. but if this AP business is real than maybe we can meet up in the Astral and have some fun, but I dont understand what am I supposed to do in a lucid dream to get there?
ps. my home is quiet enough in the day for me to meditate, so I try it at night - thats how I got a lucid dream =b

If you're lucid and want to do an OBE, ask to be back to your body, and when you feel yourself in it (do not open your eyes) stay in trance and then wait for exit vibes or other sensations, and try an exit technique. It usually works for me.

so I meditated a bit last night before sleeping, not much because I am a noob to it which is why I do it when the house is still and quiet.
but like last time, it helped induce a lucid dream. I tried out what you said and got interesting results :D when I asked to go back into my body, the sensation was one of submerging into water. Everything went dark, and I didn't get a chance to be 'awake' and wait for trance. Instead I got the typical vibrations you get from a WILD, a sensation of spiraling, and I remember some lights.
When it stopped, I opened my eyes and I was in a new environment. It felt, rather how do I say it, like a real space. There were these gorgeous tapestries that seemed to flow down from an endless source. They were like silk and they were all indigo. I just marveled at how pretty they were.
There were these monks cloaked in indigo robes. They had a cat like appearance to their faces. And I ask the first monk "HAVE I MADE IT TO THE ASTRAL?"
And he just says yes, but so do all of my dream characters!
sigh, it was very fascinating but I think it was just a dream. But I am having a hard time understanding, what is the difference to look for in a lucid dream that is vivid and an AP. :? for me I am interested in an AP because, well, dream characters aren't real people. I might as well talk to myself all night.
But my dream characters become more and more clever

i hurt my right hand last night so i won't be posting much-1 liners. Fell on it-hrts bigtime.
AP & dreams are both forms of projection- so there will be subconsciously produced ch.'s in an AP also.
