This is a great doco (I found it on youtube, broken into 6 parts) about fractal geometry and how it relates to nature, god , the universe....

It's presented by Arthur C Clarke - search youtube for "colours of infinity" and it should pop up. It's a few years old I think, but fascinating stuff.

Excellent. In one of my other lives I'm a digital artist, and I've been working with fractals since about 1998. I love working with them. I love the glimpse of infinity, and the way you can find totally unexpected images in them. They're very "Rorschach-test" in that you can see all sorts of things there...

Heh. You're not alone in that perception. ;) Generally, that set is affectionately known as a "Mandy" or some variation of "Little Buddha". :)

That's sort of what I thought when I saw it- I wondered if the pictures of Hindu deities sitting in the lotus position didn't come from some ancient discovery or intuition about the Mandy set.
