Actually, through spiritual practice, and meditaition you'll awaken it on your own. It just takes a couple years of extreme meditation :P

Aunt Clair warned about risks with spine impairments and raising Kundalini:

Please take note that she and Robert awakened Kundalini even in spite of spine problems.

Take good care,
Oliver

Oh, and apropos scoliosis - since a nice coworker has it, I have remembered the word and stumbled over it on my favorite Qigong site:

http://www.energyarts.com/cms/index.php?id=58

This is an advanced Qigong course. For comparison: I have been doing Core Qigong programs from this author/teacher for over a year and was barely qualified to take part in the also advanced "Gods Playing in the Clouds" course.

The material is very good, presented very well, certification standards for teachers are high, and Bruce Frantzis is a spine specialist himself:

http://www.energyarts.com/cms/index.php?id=41 (under "Healing his Spine")

I therefore think this might be a good way to go for scoliosis treatment.

Take good care,
Oliver

In an unscientific view, my hubby had scoliosis as a child, and years of surfing straightened up his spine. The last time he was checked out the doctors were amazed. He still has a curve, but it's nothing compared to how it was as a child.

I am no expert but I really doubt it. Even though chakra alignment and sushumma alignment are connected to the physical, I don't believe they are subordinated to the physical. I would say that practicing energy flow work could help in keeping the physical back healthy, but I'm not sure how space-dependent one is from the other (I'm not sure if I wrote this clearly enough.)

Nonsense. If that would be true, the normal flow of energy will be blocked every instant by a not well aligned spine, and the subject would be unable to function normally.

I have a slight scoliosis and my doctor told me that everyone has a percentage bend, I mean, a 5%, 30% or x% of spine curve. So, if you're body is healthy and you can function normally, a curve is not to impede your kundalini to flare.

So, I guess what I was asking was, could scoliosis cause the energy to incorrectly flow up the spine?

IMHO it is the other way around.

Also, what are some of the best links that explain how to do the correct kundalini meditations?

On scoliosis:
It can be completely cured.
You just have to find a physical therapeutist who will teach you how to strenghten the right muscles and stretch the opposite ones and over time your spine will heal.

Believe me - I started bodybuilding/powerlifting in 1995, so I have a lot of experience in keeping my spine healthy for those ultra heavy deadlifts and squats. 8)

You may also want to Google ART (active release therapy) +scoliosis . (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=%22active+release+therapy%22+scoliosis)

Crystalp,

I have scoliosis and looked for years to find someone to help me fix it. Though I've been to chiropractors and love 'em anyway, that never happened. One day however, I was looking at my knees while I was standing and noticed that one seemed to be lower than the other. Sure enough, I got out the tape measure and my left calf is one inch shorter than my right one. Looking at my hips in the mirror with a one inch booster in my left shoe, and without, solved the mystery for me. Walking with the booster as much as I can has improved my condition to almost normal. I have lateral scoliosis (side to side) though and this may not help you if yours is dorsal (front to back) or otherwise.

If you have lateral scoliosis I recommend measuring each leg, alternately, from your hip to heel two or three times and see if there is a difference. Maybe a booster will help you as it did me. Also, paker7's advice is spot on! Doing exercise that involves both sides of the body (and the necessary stretches of course) equally will reverse the condition and restore symmetry. It has for me.

Good luck!
