I suggest you go to my summary of Graham Hancock's book "Supernatural"

You might enjoy the read and I'll add more related to what you're after later.

You'll pick up some nice little historical tidbits now and then if you hang around the forums, especially related to religion. There's a little in here

It is believed by some that the Pyramids were built as devices to aid in projection. There's lots of information online about it, just look up the Great Pyramids of Giza.

Hi Blowk,

Also, since you are the only one who has responded, I wondered if you had a) read any gnostic or theosophical work, or anything by R Steiner or M Heindel and b) what your thoughts are about them.

Are you an experienced Astral Projector?

No, I haven't read those works but I'm sure you'll find people who have. It might take a separate post with the right words in the title to attract them though. Feel free to educate me. I'm always up for new knowledge.

Yes, I have astral projected a number of times. I don't consider myself an expert though. Have you had any projection experiences yourself?

I've read most of the gnostic gospels, and have read some of Mme Blavatsky's works (Theosophy). I've read some history of the Cathars, and another russian gnostic sect that seem to be related to them.
I've gone to the gnostic websites (or some of them), but that's it.

If you mean absolutely safe projecting with what I have experienced, I do.
As to knowing something, no one really does, IMO.

I remain curious about metaphysical history but I have discovered a bit .

Mohammed supposedly could not write but he related to his scribes about his journeys outside of the body . He rode in a chariot or merkabah to the realms accompanied by angels and paintings have been done on this theme .

Egyptians spoke about the Tree of Life in the Djed and Tet . The Tree of Life is the realms on the energy body and external to it . So where you find it you have evidence of mystic projection .

Certainly the Tree of Life is a universal archetype occuring in diverse cultures across the continents when there was no possiblity of a physical cultural contagion ie Sumer , Egypt , Jewish Kaballah ,Americas, Norse, the Celts ,etc .

Indigenous people have legends of elder shamyns projecting from the body and walking in spirit to appear remotely . Aborigines in Australia have many stories of this behaviour as do some of the Native American and African tribes .

Within the Bible you will find the trifold cord , the emerald tablet and the merkabah . These are metaphysical elements concerning projection .

Buddha spoke about Shamballah the spiritual realms to which we can project mystically to learn from the masters . So there is evidence from at least 2500 years ago .

The oldest known source is the Sanskrit writings . These are suspected by historicans to be at least 3000 years old but by oral tradition they are suspected much more ancient .

Mysticism is one form of projection here is a link to its history
