Conversations with God

Anyone seen this movie? I read this man's book - Home With God in a Life That Never Ends. Wondering if this movie would be any good....

I LOVE Conversations with God. I saw the movie and have ALL of Neale Donald Walsch's books. Nothing makes more sense than what he writes. It can only have come from God. That's what i think.

I saw the movie, didn't like it. Way too "sweet". I expected much more dialogues and philosophical conversations, but it turned to be quite kitsch, with lots of violins in the background.

I agree that the movie wasn't that well made. It was a low budget movie. But nun the less the Conversations with God books are some of the most magnificent you will ever read. Nothing has made more sense for me and sets out a plan for the whole world to take in establishing a new spirituality that makes fare more sense than any religion ever could.

I read them years ago and was pretty into them at the time but the more I thought about some of the aspects mentioned the more I began to doubt them.

What comes immediately to mind is the assertion that we do not have a life purpose, that it's whatever we decide at any given moment. While I'm all for free will (albeit limited), I do think we incarnate with a life plan and agree to undergo certain experiences so as to evolve ourselves in particular ways.

I'm glad you mentioned that, Beekeeper--I was beginning to think I was the only one who felt that way.

I haven't read all of any of the Conversations with God books, but I flipped through one in a bookstore a few times and didn't take long before I found little things (like your example) that just did not resonate with me.

And later on I got to thinking about what RB says about channeled information in his Popular Model Conundrum article. It occurred to me that, even assuming the author himself is completely honest about his "conversations", the actual entity he communicated with could quite possibly be a non-divine entity with not-so-noble intentions, rather than "God".

I don't mean this to criticize the books, the author, or anyone who finds his material valuable. I'm just tossing out my current perspective as potential food for thought. :)

I see this as a tool- Removing your attachment to the concept that you have to have a purpose to justify being here (which is what some may believe as to the idea of purpose) may then clear the way to finding out (or letting the universe tell you) what your real purpose is.
The reason I say this is that IMO the word 'pupose' is egoic in nature and can be perverted to take away liberty of being- while though you may have a purpose (as I believe I do) thinking you don't have to have one can make the ego step aside and let destiny unfold, instead of trying to control the outcome.

Perfect sense and at the time I found it very liberating. In a sense I think our purpose is to develop in whatever way we want so whatever path leads to that development is fine. There may be many ways to achieve that.
