I have a potato and fruits in my fridge. They have all adopted the flavor of the potato! For example: I eat a berry and it tastes like a potato! It’s the strangest thing I’ve encountered.

If I were to guess, whichever food is more aromatic is going to go into your nostrils and whatever you eat will taste like it. However, the example doesn't support that idea, since I don't think potatoes are more aromatic than berries. That would be an interesting experiment, although it's pretty off-topic, if you ask me.
