I used to get obe when I was younger in my 20s scared me so tried to force myself awake each time now in my mid 30s it happened again there is no doubt in my mind I've had obe I have floated through windows and doors on 2-3 occasions I felt the first few-seconds of my obe where in real time but quickly turned into dream world I guess or what other obe ppl call astral plain? The latest obe I had about 2 weeks ago was the longest and most memorable and the first time I actually felt like I fluttered /floated gently back into my body
After the experience rather the jolting awake! So I'm totally intrigued and want more so I've tried a few more times since to obe but have had 0 luck !
Anyway looking to speak with others who have actually had obe because I can't really talk to anyone in my life about it as the few times I brought it up it seems to make them uncomfortable

Hi Mattleh22, and welcome.
Firstly just to point out that members who post here are from all corners of the world so our clocks are different. Replies will come but more likely you may have a while to wait.
Yes no doubt we can leave our physical body and wander around what we perceive as our own physical setting that we are used to.( Real Time Zone as Robert calls it)
There are some subtle differences that may be noted as we are responsible for interpreting what is around us.
In a lot of cases when we start practicing we start in our bedroom or wherever our body is at the time.
Eventually as our experiences get longer ,and we get more proficient and overcome the fear factor it gets more interesting.
But you've done this already so you know it can be done. I think you just fell asleep as you say into a dream.
So consciously exiting is the goal and getting rid of the fear.
Roberts book ( available as an e book ) Astral Dynamics was my bible when I started. I would strongly recommend looking at this.
I know how you feel about the reaction of others when bringing up this topic. They are uncomfortable because they don't know how to reply or whether to believe or not. I used to go to spiritual groups covering most topics but stopped all that. I felt embarrassed on the few occasions I dared to say what I was experiencing. There would be complete silence. An awkward " oh?"
Even one lady at a week end retreat gave a workshop on Working with Angels. She couldn't hold a conversation with me and quickly changed the subject.
So as you explore this avenue further use this forum for your questions and concern and achievements and excitement , but you may have to wait a little for a reply .
Good luck.
It's easier said than done but practice, learn, practice, learn.

Hi thanks for welcome I'm curious about obe in real time can it be done and to what extent? Hi Matt. Yes, it can be done, but most OBEs to the RTZ are short, they turn into astral projections fairly soon.

Ok great thank you both for the replies it's comforting in a way to speak with other projectors (is that the right term?) about it I'm not a spiritual person just average guy so I've never spoken to anyone at all about it except mentioning it to my brother who told me that I was freaking him out and my wife who said I know "I'm the one waking u up from sleep paralysis"with a laugh. I will read that book to get started thanks for recommendation !
sorry for being impatient : )
no luck on the obe last few weeks for me can u get to point where they r every night ?

Not on purpose, no. We project every night anyway (that's what dreams are) but are not conscious for them. It would be exhausting to muster up a projection reflex every night- when would you sleep? I project consciously about once a month, but can 'phase into' an altered state any time I want, (without generating an astral double and having an rtz projection) I just don't want to do it every day.

So I've been reading astral dynamics !
last night I I tried to obe I didn't have an obe but felt some pretty crazy tingling sensations and was able to get what I felt was really close pretty sure I was seeing my room with eyes shut and body /breathing felt like I was asleep a few times I started to feel a floating sensation and also had the tingling sensations also thought while eyes where shut I felt I saw outline of a person and caught glimpses of white I guess energy that was floating around room and seem to create a face here and there nothing concrete yet but I can definitely say something happened last night just not sure what and I'm becoming less of a skeptic as it's becoming hard to deny whatI'm experiencing ! When I came out of the meditation / trance my body felt super relaxed like I had been sleeping ! This went on for what felt like 2 hrs but try as I might didn't get an obe and when I had to get up for a bath room break decided that was enough for the night and went to sleep!
Any thought /comments that u guys might have would love to hear it keep in mind I still really new just learning the terms etc..
thank you

Hi Matt, after reading your story I think we are pretty much in the same place. I had a few spontaneous OBE's in my life and became interested in the topic a few months ago...
I think that finding people in the same stage is good since we can keep track of our progress. I read astral dynamics last week, I think it is a great book but I don't think it works well as a guide. Sure, it has lots of tips and stories, some exercises and techniques as well... but it is certainly not as detailed and step-by-step as M.A.P.
I think both books compliment very well... I don't know, just my opinion so far.
I will tell you what has worked for me better so far:
The dream journal is KEY, recalling OBE's is pretty much like recalling dreams, since I started the journal 10 days ago I remember at least one or two dreams per night while before it maybe was about one per week... that is huge progress for such a short period of time I think. You should start yours if you haven't.
Energy work is really helping me, I can really feel it flowing when I do the exercises. Not just for OBE, but in general I think these exercises are really helpful and beneficial. And if you are a bit skeptic this will probably help since the sensations are extremely powerful (specially in the legs and arms, at least for me)
By the way, I think yesterday I managed to get out for a few seconds... it was so vivid at the moment, but as soon as I came back the memory became blurry and distant... I guess this becomes clearer as you are more conscious and trained to recall them.
Which techniques do you use to get relaxed and prepare to get OBEs? and which exit techniques are you trying? For relaxation I have been using breathing or focusing on a spot with my eyes closed...

Hi thanks for commenting great to hear from someone in same boat!
I work and have young kids so no afternoon naps for me to play around with so I try b4 bed! last night is the first time I've tried energy work and was pretty shocked at what I felt it was certainly interesting felt I was real close few times 2 times felt my heart race and seemed close but no dice! The session lasted 2 or so hrs and felt floating sensations but no clear exit! I thought I was seeing room with eyes shut at points and also saw what I thought was white sparks /images fluttered here and there some them took somewhat the shape of faces. at a few points I felt negitive thoughts starting to creep in felt little scared but was able to push them out even when I thought I was possibly seeing faces etc ! one odd thing that just came to me as I write this is for part of it I was hearing music that I listen to eairler in the day it was very clear sounded as if I was listening to it for real but I had no clear visions that I can remember everything seemed blurry. when I came out of it I felt as if I'd been sleeping which was nice because I don't get enough as it is!
the technique I was trying was concentrating on spot above my forehead and when I felt close seeing if my arms would exit in past I've had luck if I could get an arm out I'd roll the rest my body out almost like I was rolling out of bed in real life!
Anyone have thoughts on what I was experienceing also this is really embarrassing but at a few points mostly the beginning the little guy got very excited not sure why exactly .....
Thanks again

Have tried 3 times for obe and have had the heart racing few times also I get slight floating sensation but I try to raise my arm to see if it's out I'm actually raising my physical arm once I realize that I've moved seems like I have to start over ..... Gonna keep trying ......

Yeah I am kinda stuck as well, but I feel like im progressing. The hardest part for me is the mind taming part... as soon as I feel a strong sensation I get really excited and break it. But I definitely fell my first energy body now, after a few minutes of meditation I feel it raise above my body

One thing I've noticed is even if I have just 1-2 alcoholic drinks I can't get any energy work done at all!
after getting the feeling like ur hearts racing what do I do try to keep it going try to exit? I've been-bouncing energy from my toes to my head almost like a ball I Havnt learned all the energy centers just yet still reading astral dynamics it's a lot of info

During last attempt was totally mind awake but breathing was slow steady like body was asleep had few fleeting glimpses of what I'm guessing was dream world but seemed like I was just watching the scene not in it no matter what I did couldn't make things clear I was in my chair then few strange glimpses of dream world or whatever it was then back in my chair when I found myself back in my chair I'd try and stare past my closed eyes and try and exit but no luck
Any advice is welcome starting to forget the feeling of real exit and doubt slipping into my mind

Gonna keep trying ...... I would suggest that instead of looking to see if your arm's out you go ahead and start to do an energy body loosening technique. Trying out the arm puts you in an observer position which centers you. Try to direct your consciousness 'out' instead of checking. When you're out you'll know it.
ps. when you move it doesn't mean you have to start over, just back to the trance state. Passive observation with no movement can achieve that from the position you're in, if you're feeling floaty and disconnected.

Any advice is welcome starting to forget the feeling of real exit and doubt slipping into my mind The dream flashes/clairvoyance are symptoms of an early trance, and need some deepening. If you're getting quick flashes just ignore them and go back to whatever practice you are doing at that point, but if they are slowing down enough that you can study a scenery, then change your tactic and try to do a 'phasing' type of exit, which consists of studying the back end of the scenery, which should make it 3-D and eventually allow you to 'fall' into or 'be sucked in'to an astral scene. That is also a starting point for an astral projection, just not to the RTZ.

Matt, yesterday I had an interesting experience. I am going to share it with you in case it helps. I was lying on my bed, did a relaxation exercise to get into trance. I could feel some separation but I couldn't seem to get out, I could feel mild vibrations all around my body but I could not lift of. Then I remembered something I read and decided to go with it... I vocally said "Help me get out, take me out of my body" as soon as I said that I felt like a magnet pulling me up, the vibrations increased their intensity and I started to lift... I freaked out a bit and couldn't finish the process. However, whatever helped me felt friendly and with a real intention to help. I will try it again. So... you can try this, the thing is, when you say it you really have to mean it... and be prepared to face what you ask for. I clearly wasn't as prepared as I thought, but I will next time.

Jzisner I was saying I want to leave my body I want to have an obe etc
in the past I was able to roll out on my own never exp someone or thing trying to help and could see how that would be freaky I'm past the fear of exiting I believe but have never tried so hard and used trance to do it !

Matt: I used to practice in the car line when my son was in elementary school. I arrived about a half an hour before the bell rang, and practiced for that time. I do not advise any practice whatsoever in a moving car, only in a parked car and not a full-blown projection attempt, because you might be 'too relaxed' to drive the car afterwards.
But if you're talking about in the parked car in the garage then I don't see why not.

Hi all I've been practicing a few times a week for whatever reason I guess I was having a bit of beginners luck with things first few attempts I had heart racing floating sensations seeing white flashes for lack of better word when eyes closed and I really thought with a few more times I'd have an obe like I've done in the past but this time I'd do it on purpose!! Then for last week or more having no luck can't seem to get into trance state I'm having harder time visualizing energy moving up and down my body, today I had the whole afternoon i relaxed but ended up falling asleep I had a strange dream that I remembered but I'm really chasing that feeling of pulling /slipping out of my body!!
Will try tonight b4 bed if I remember correctly last time it happened I had gotten a nap earlier in the day !
any advice be great also the last time obe happened something that happens to me from time to time happened sometimes when I close my eyes to go to sleep I see flickering and images not visually but in my mind if that makes sense it's usually images that have to do with a book I'm reading or movie I watched it takes no meditation I just close my eyes and it starts only happens here and there any idea what it is??

It's hypnagogic imagery, nothing out of the ordinary for the type of awareness work you're doing. It shows you're in a deep enough trance for the dream imagery to show up quickly and randomly, and if desired, can be used for WILDing or phasing.

Ct ur help really means a lot thank you !
So I Havnt had a chance to practice and was kinda just taking a little break ....
so last night I'm tired my wife and son feel asleep so I was just laying in bed and figure I'll enjoy that relaxed state b4 u fall asleep so b4 I know it must have fell asleep not really sure but I felt the vibrations come on and relaxed into them then I left my body my room was dark I couldn't see I commanded sight and then I could see but not well I turned to look for myself sleeping and didn't see myself there??? I also remember going for a window hoping to enter a cool dream or something but that's when I think I woke up !
had a few other dreams last night but no more obe !
this obe was not as aware id say as the few others I've had felt more like a dream then previous ones and am wondering why when I turned to look at myself I saw my wife and son who was sleeping between us but not myself ?
Also wondering why this just happens to me sometimes but can't seem to bring it on myself

I think it happens because you have no tension or are 'trying'. Relaxation is so important.
It is common for projectors to perceive everything except themselves every once in a while-it may be a defense mechanism from the subconscious mind. The whole "this is what I look like dead" thing can be traumatizing. You also look different when you're unconscious, and it's not attractive, to say the least.
