I always wanted a job, I got one and I was unhappy. I always wanted a relationship with a woman I was crazy about, I got one and was unhappy, It seems the universe wants me to see my personal dreams getting granted isn't always great. Just wondering if anyone has any insight/similar experience. Thank you.

Similar, but not so much with dissappointment, but with the awareness that wherever you are it's all the same. We expect the future to change our lives but we create or project them, and that's why the newness fades so quickly. IMO and observation.

I've had similar experiences. My sense is that underneath, there are things (beliefs, fears, etc.) that are making you unhappy because they're unresolved and unacknowledged. This has always been the case with me, when I've experienced the "get what you want but you're still not happy" thing. Happiness is fleeting and temporary. Joy is much more complete and permanent, but it is not obtained from outside events, it comes from inside.
That's my experience, anyway.

yeah I've found a good deal of happiness from within....But I've grown pretty tired of the Western attitude ....the give Me, give Me, give me....more more more/Better, mentality, I know it leads to better living on the outside but it comes at a price to the life society lives on the inside. Everyone wants to find a substitute in their bits of junk for the human connections no one wants to take the time to cultivate, the ones we as a species developed under. The west has sold out so completely to commercialism...fortunately it dosnt as yet represent the whole world.

Identifying with things, or goals, or attainment, or people might make someone satisfied for a minute. Chasing things is a distraction. Happiness is complex as love. "Happy" is not one emotion - its a consciously chosen and practiced process through which satisfaction, love, peace, joy are able to manifest through you.

Over the years if I've wanted something I had to have it. I would save and the pleasure of wanting and anticipation of getting was great. In fact it was better than the having. Sometimes I would go off it before I aquired it because with my mind I had lived with it and got bored. Couldn't give a toss now.
The one pleasure that I have to wait weeks or months for but never ever get bored with and the result is always a pleasure is watching a seed planted peep up from that soil and say " I'm here," and watching nature take its course and see a most beautiful formation of colour and shape form with no human hands doing anything.
All it takes is a bad day, tiring or frustrating or boring and put me in that green house and nature mends me back to happiness.

@buzzcock,happiness comes from within. you can manifest all your desires and not be happy. happiness is a choice.
