I have stated here some time ago (and elsewhere as well) that I haven't had a nightmare in many years. I started to wonder why that can be true, and it occurred to me it might hinge on lucid dreaming.
When I am lucid the experience of the dream is akin to watching a movie - certainly I may be engrossed in the characters and events being presented, but I am always aware that I am watching a movie. Being lucid operates the same way, so while I may have 'disturbing' dreams I, personally, take them in like a movie that maybe I didn't like, but I never lose sight that It Is Only a Dream.
Does that makes sense?
