Shielding around chakras real or metaphorical?

I've heard you speak about shielding in some old kundalini posts and on the old video blog.

But is this shielding around the chakras real or is it metaphorical for Higher Self filters?

More exploration is needed to answer this question, but I think these are real energy filters...something like subtle magnetic fields that repel other types of magnetic fields. These would also be under the control of the higher self.
