View Full Version : False awakenings - not helpful!

Tonight I had a continuous multi-hour dream and was aware of it while it was happening. Not like "I'm lucid and this is a dream" but kind of like "I'm dreaming and want to write it down." I decided at several times that I need to wake up and write it down, and the first time I tried I noticed it didn't happen at all, but I at first thought I succeeded.

I realised I distrusted that feeling, so I actually tried to make myself wake up and thought I succeeded and I remember writing something down. But I remember feeling hazy and not like I was really awake at all. In fact, I had at least two false awakenings during the dream only to wake up and find I had not written down anything at all! :?

The dream threw off my sense of time, totally. I had woken at midnight from a late evening nap, and went back to bed an hour later, maybe. When I woke I felt like I had dreamed for so long, it must 11:45am, but it turned out to be 8:45am. I really felt like I had dreamed for hours and hours...

Don't you feel tired now? That has happened to me a few times, and I'm exhausted the rest of the day.

Well, only because of the hot weather, but I know what you mean. Usually it is exhausting when something similar happens, but this time not.

My sleep rhythm was totally different last night. I slept from 8pm till midnight, was up for a while and then went back to bed. Maybe I just had enough sleep before that.

I actually feel best in the morning when my sleep was light. I also recall more dreams.

Cheers,
Oliver
